A Northern NJ based broker/dealer, is seeking an experienced and capable Assistant Investment Trader. In your role as an Assistant Investment Trader, you will support our brokers and trading staff in providing our clients with the best in financial and investment services.
The Assistant Investment Trader position will involve:
- Entering trade orders through our clearing firm’s processing systems and verifying that the trades were accurately reported to the appropriate regulatory reporting system
- Performing cancels and rebills as well as correcting incorrect trade reports
- Aiding in the reconciliation of trading positions for each of our trading desks

Job Responsibilities
As an Assistant Investment Trader you will provide trading support for our fixed-income investment financial advisors and will help to ensure that all securities trades are conducted efficiently and in full compliance with all applicable regulatory standards.
Your specific duties as an Assistant Investment Trader will include:
- Verifying the accuracy of mark-ups or mark-downs and yield calculations performed by the brokers
- Working closely with Compliance to ensure the trade reporting function is in compliance with all rules and regulations including timely order entry, correct reporting of yields and accurate reflection of trades on client confirmations
- Performing other functions which may be required to aid our traders on an as-needed basis

Job Requirements
As an Assistant Investment Trader, you must have a pleasant and positive personality and the ability to work well under pressure. You must also be highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills. It will also be important to your role as an Assistant Investment Trader for you to have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to function effectively as part of a team.
Specific qualifications for the Assistant Investment Trader position include:
- Minimum 2 years experience working with fixed income securities including municipal bonds, corporate bonds and government agency bonds, preferably on a fixed income trading desk
- Understanding of how fixed income securities trade in the over-the-counter market
- Knowledge of both TRACE and RTRS trade reporting
- Ability to calculate mark-ups and mark-downs
- Strong math skills
- Solid computer skills including the ability to learn new applications and to type quickly and accurately
