    We currently are seeking a highly motivated Senior Manager for our Risk Energy Trading team to lead client engagement teams, work with a wide variety of clients to deliver professional services, and lead business development activities on strategic and global priority accounts.

    Responsibilities

    Ernst & Young’s Risk Advisory – Energy Trading sub-practice is a specialty advisory group that assists clients in the areas of market, credit, liquidity and operational risk across all energy and related commodities.  The group assists clients in the assessment, design, transformation and implementation of industry leading capabilities to identify, measure, manage and monitor risks in a commodity portfolio.  Capabilities include the areas of governance and oversight, policies, processes and controls, organizational structure, reporting, modeling and assumptions, and data requirements and information systems.  Our clients greatly value the insights and experience we provide regarding tailored trading models that help achieve commercial strategy, leading practices that help companies establish risk and governance practices and our strong project management capabilities.  Our Clients include merchant energy companies, retail energy companies, utilities, oil and gas companies, chemical companies, natural resource companies and financial institutions and hedge funds with commodity trading operations.

    A Senior Manager within Risk Advisory – Energy Trading will lead large scale client engagements. Consistently deliver quality client services. Drive high-quality work products within expected timeframes and on budget. Monitor progress, manage risk and verify key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes. Manage expectations of client service delivery. Stay abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client’s business. 

    Effectively lead and motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds. Provide constructive on-the-job feedback/coaching to team members. Foster an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment. Play an active role in counseling and mentoring junior advisors within the organization.

    Generate new business opportunities. Understand Ernst & Young and its service lines and actively assess/present ways to serve clients. Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Develop relationships with team members across all Ernst & Young practices to serve client needs.
    With a strong knowledge of energy trading and project management, the Senior Manager is a vital member of the risk management team working in all phases of advisory work (identify, diagnose, design, deliver and sustain).  A Senior Manager may play a ‘lead advisor’ role, meaning that they will be provided the opportunity to work in a number of different areas, including market risk, credit risk, risk quantification and modeling, risk systems, and internal audit support.  

    As a Senior Manager, additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Advising clients on a variety of risk services to aid their efforts to identify, monitor, measure and ultimately manage the commodity risk exposure in their organizations.
  • Assisting clients to design, implement and deploy a commodity risk strategy, which may include services such as: risk governance and policy frameworks, blueprinting desired state process and system designs; control design and implementation.
  • Assessing and evaluating a client’s internal control environment and developing creative and practical solutions to address issues identified and provide value-added services to the client.
  • Participating in the commodity risk management sales and marketing efforts as well as broadening relationships with existing clients. 
  • Leading, executing and managing all aspects of advisory projects.
  • Identifying new, creative and innovative solutions to client and practice issues.
  • Maintaining active involvement in providing thought leadership related to energy trading through participation at industry seminars and creation of articles for publication.
  • Demonstrating professionalism while working in the client environment.
  • Maintaining a strong client focus by being responsive to client requests and developing/maintaining productive working relationships with client personnel.
  • Staying informed of current business/economic developments relevant to client’s business.
  • Collaborating with team members to set individual and team goals and responsibilities.
  • Contributing ideas and opinions to the engagement and practice team and listen to team members’ ideas and views.
  • Utilizing technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery.
  • Seeking opportunities to present Ernst & Young’s services which add value to the clients.

 Requirements

Qualifications

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • a bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant work experience; or a graduate degree and 7 years of relevant work experience.  Relevant work experience would include working in the front, middle or back office operations of a commodity trading entity or as a consultant to a commodity trading entity.
  • a degree in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, information technology or a related field; an MBA or master’s degree (in finance, mathematics, etc.) a plus.
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and demonstrated knowledge in energy trading risk management.
  • understanding of energy markets functions and a strong product knowledge.
  • process re-engineering, team building, and project management experience.
  • strong communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills.
  • desire and ability to work closely with quantitative and technology professionals on project assignments.
  • a thorough understanding of some or all of the following is a plus: quantitative methods and tools supporting commodity risk measurement; knowledge of energy trading risk software (e.g., Endur, Entegrate, Commodity XL, Allegro, RightAngle, etc.).
  • Successful candidates must also have the ability to travel approximately 50%.  Travel is predominantly within North America.

    AVP, Project Manager, Trading: 
    The Technology team is responsible for the development, delivery and support of technology solutions to support the Sales and Trading groups Fixed Income and Foreign Exchange Trading groups. This team is responsible for front, middle and back-office applications that are a combination of in-house and vendor supplied software and a variety of technologies. 

    Technology is seeking an experienced, hands-on Project Manager to provide Project Management and Analysis services for FX Sales and Trading front office specifically position management, risk management, trade entry and trade analytics. 

    The candidate will be required to work with a diverse group of individuals including but not limited to Business Sponsors, Business Users, and other IT stakeholders – internal and external. Candidate will be responsible for managing multiple projects concurrently varying in size and duration, and will be required to provide status updates across multiple levels of management. Candidate will be required to manage a cross-functional team comprising of 10 or more individuals. As the Project Manager, the candidate will be responsible for defining and preparing all project documentation to meet internal Project Management standards and comply with all audit and governance requirements. Individual must be able to effectively work and communicate across the global organization including Business Sponsors, Project Managers, onshore/offshore Development and QA teams located globally. Project Management role includes the coordination and communication with end users for UAT planning and execution as well as risk assessment to insure projects stay on track and are delivered on-time without business disruption. 

    Requirements 

    Bachelors Degree in technology, finance, engineering or equivalent. MBA or CFA a plus 
    Minimum of 10 years in a senior technology management role 
    Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills 
    Very strong management, project management and leadership skills 
    Very strong relationship management skills 

    A successful candidate must have a minimum of 8 years industry experience in the following: 

    Practical FX trading experience and industry knowledge of FX trading organization 
    Strong knowledge of Project Management methodologies and demonstrated use of tools and project organization structure 
    Strong Communication skills both verbal and written to communicate across various levels of the organization 
    Candidate must demonstrate adaptability to strategic changes and demonstrate strong initiative and motivation skills 
    Organizational change management 
    Ability to adapt quickly in a changing environment, while maintaining the value proposition 
    Vendor and Custom built management and application deployment 
    Demonstrate leadership skills
