    Market Risk Manager for Foreign Exchange Desk, Vice President

    Description

    The Foreign Exchange division at State Street is a well established business line covering most developed and emerging markets currencies and all major products in 11 locations around the globe. Directly supporting the Desk Risk Manager, the Market Risk Manager will cover the FX desks by making transparent the major positions, risks, P&L drivers and strategies. He/She will build out and refine market risk decomposition and monitoring tools covering a wide range of FX products, including FX Options. The individual will need at least a first relevant work experience in this area.

    Representative Duties
    •Monitor trading activities, market movements, risk positions and PnL drivers for designated products / trading desks
    •Provide constructive challenge to traders regarding their positions and associated risk profiles. Escalate as appropriate significant risk exposures and market movements
    •Refine granularity of risk reports and build up a bottom-up performance attribution
    •Report any limit breaches and recommend proper course of actions
    •Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of risk information on a daily basis; work with Risk Analytics, IT and other groups to resolve any data and methodology issues
    •Perform desk-specific stress testing and other risk analysis to ensure significant risks are captured and understood 

     Requirements
    Education and Experience

    •Advanced quantitative or business degree and/or FRM, PRM, CFA, CQF
    •Minimum of 5 years in FX and Rates products as a Trader, Front Office Quant, or Risk Manager.

    Skills/Knowledge

    •Well versed in pricing a broad range of financial products, in particular in Fixed Income/Currencies/Commodities
    •Solid understanding and demonstrated application of risk management metrics such as VaR, stress testing, sensitivity measures
    •Ideally prior experience close to the trading desk
    •Expertise in coding with C, VBA or similar and ability to develop prototype solutions
    •Experience with Front Office and Risk Management vendor systems
    •Experience working with large and complex data sets, including SQL
    •Ability to work independently to identify problems, propose solutions or proactively address them directly
    •Ability to deliver quality results under time pressure
    •Strong written and verbal communication skills

    The candidate will be an experienced professional who will be able to assume the responsibilities identified in the job description within a short period of time.

    • 4-year Degree (Finance, Accounting, Economics) preferred.

    • Highly inquisitive and an avid reader of market trends, newsletters, and other investment data sources.
    • Master skill level in EXCEL mandatory. Excellent PC knowledge (MS Office) also required.
    • Exceptionally high standards are mandatory with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
    • Top planning and organizational skills with personal drive & initiative.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong knowledge of statistics and control charting.
