# executing trades, managing credit news and bond trading levels within the investment group
# helping to generate trading and investment ideas

# maintaining relationships with broker/dealers
What you need to have:

Assist the Ercot Portfolio Director with the term management of a diverse portfolio of Ercot assets on an intermediate and long-term basis to optimize the portfolio’s value. Identify, create, and optimize term commercial opportunities in the Ercot market.
* Develop and implement term trading strategies that support the direction provided by the Portfolio Director and Regional Vice President.
* Analyze and interpret power and fuel market fundamentals including supply, demand and regulatory changes.
* Enhance term asset value through bidding, trading, and use of hedging strategies to maximize term profits in accordance with company risk management guidelines.
* Actively make markets across term markets for power and options.
* Interact regularly with other commercial operations traders to identify term opportunities and strategies.
* Partner with other business units and/or departments to identify and facilitate business process improvements.
* Work with other NRG staff to effectively maximize the Organization’s position and strategy in the Ercot market, including participation in market regulatory and policy directions.
* Interact with market participants and electricity brokers to develop, negotiate, and execute opportunistic term business transactions.
* Maintain compliance with all related corporate and industry trading policies, codes of conduct and Sarbanes-Oxley reporting requirements.
* Support ongoing and special initiatives within Commercial Operations and business development.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, finance, or other relevant degree with five or more years of commodities &/or derivatives trading experience required. MBA is preferred.
* Strong options background preferred.
* Strong natural gas basis plus fixed price experience preferred.
* Extensive knowledge of trading tools and indices, marginal and average pricing, and generation commitment techniques.
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills; sound conceptual thinking. Must have ability to make profitable business decisions quickly, to identify and communicate market opportunities to co-workers, and to understand all financial reports.

Senior Quantitative Research Analyst
Experience: The ideal candidate will have substantial trading experience in the global markets with hands-on experience working at a trading desk and deep knowledge of one or more asset classes. He also has 3-5 years hands on experience building successful systematic trading systems. This candidate will play a significant role in alpha generation and the creation of new systematic strategies. Focus on short-term/intraday trading experience is a plus. The position requires good quantitative, statistical and reasoning skills.
Education: MSc or higher in Finance, Economics or Statistics.
Computing Skills: Candidate needs to be proficient in MATLAB or in C++.
Other: Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.
Quantitative Research Analyst
Experience: The successful candidate will have PhD level knowledge in machine learning, information theory as it applies to artificial intelligence or statistics with some experience applying his/her knowledge to financial data. This candidate will be a part of a team working on cutting-edge next generation short-term systematic trading systems. Prospective candidates must be comfortable with working very large sets of very noisy data. We are looking for results orientated highly motivated candidates that can apply their theoretical foundation to the problem of systematic trading in a meaningful way. 1+ years experience trading system research is required.
