We currently have an exciting temp to hire opportunity in New Bern, NC with a rapidly growing; boutique investment advisory firm seeks an investment analyst/trader to directly assist the Chief Investment Strategist in the implementation of portfolio management for the firm???s clients.

The firm manages over $100 million with a long-term, absolute return strategy investing primarily in commodities, stocks and bonds with a value discipline. The firm is responsible for all investment and operational aspects of this function, including asset allocation, portfolio construction, due diligence, security analysis and performance measurement. The applicant should have superior organizational skills and attention to detail to fill its available Investment Analyst/Trader position. The Investment Analyst will assist and support the Chief Investment Strategist in due diligence, portfolio research, industry research, portfolio design and portfolio monitoring.

Specific responsibilities in these areas include:

– Researching and analyzing securities
– Maintaining and enhancing risk analytics and management systems
– Maintaining, re-balancing and enhancing portfolio allocations
– Supporting advisory staff in review of investment proposals
– Participating in and contribute to staff portfolio planning meetings and client meetings

Basic Requirements:

– Bachelor???s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or other quantitatively oriented field;
– Strong systems orientation; excellent skills in Office suite (Excel in particular) and database applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Superior organizational skills and attention to detail are highly valued. The selected candidate should possess a strong work ethic that combines accuracy and speed; high productivity is a must. The ideal candidate will have a proven capacity to multi-task, deliver results and respond quickly and effectively to requests. The Investment Analyst/Trader should have a strong academic record exhibiting excellent analytical ability, strong financial modeling and quantitative skills. Excellent verbal and written

Communication and presentation skills are a plus. A superior ability to present and communicate quantitative information is ideal as is a willingness to share ideas in a group setting. The selected candidate should be a creative thinker and a quick learner, with initiative and drive. The ideal candidate will possess the highest ethical standards: maturity and integrity required to work with sensitive/confidential information. The
Investment Analyst/Trader should be a strong team player, possess a collegial attitude and be willing to perform a wide range of tasks.
