Trading Assistant – Commodities

Our client, a top global energy trading firm, is seeking to add a Trading Assistant to their New York City office.
The TA will work on the desk, supporting the top traders, and covering crude oil and refined products trading.
The role is focused on risk management, P&L and some junior trader functions, and will lead to a Trader role in 2-3 years. Excellent environment, that is focused on career advancement of their top junior talent.
An ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
• must be extremely quantitatively proficient, with a top-school undergraduate degree in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics or a related field. A Master’s degree in any of those areas is strongly preferred. A quantitative assessment will be required, with focus on financial markets and statistical analysis.
• must be motivated, ‘hungry’ and wanting to be challenged, with a very proactive attitude
• 2+ years in a TA or Junior Trader role, or Risk Management function in the middle office, supporting a trading desk
• Energy and/or commodities experience is strongly preferred
• Exceptional Excel proficiency is required
