    Credit & Capital Markets (CCM), within the Markets Group, is seeking a Senior Trader/Analyst to provide specialty market coverage in the area of U.S. equities and equity derivatives. CCM is responsible for monitoring a variety of markets and informing policymakers on matters related to market conditions and financial stability. These markets include equities, corporate credit, credit default swaps, structured consumer credit, and municipal bonds.The Senior Trader/Analyst will lead the group’s analysis on equity and equity derivative markets and identify key macroeconomic drivers of asset price performance. This role will also entail discussions with senior officials about market functioning that would require a detailed understanding of institutions and actors such as stock exchanges, ETFs and high frequency trading. The candidate would be expected to develop extensive contacts with equity market participants – both primary dealers and buy-side investors — as well as to interface with other areas of the Bank, such as the Financial Institution Supervision Group and Research. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to the Group’s broader efforts to monitor financial markets globally for the FOMC and the Treasury, through delivery of daily written briefings, conference calls and market overview reports.

    The candidate should have a deep understanding of equity market microstructure, trading conventions, and trading strategies. Strong Excel skills and a familiarity with the range of data sources and applications would be beneficial. The candidate should have excellent writing skills, with a demonstrated ability to articulate sophisticated concepts clearly and with an emphasis on how market developments relate to policy themes. The Senior Trader/Analyst should also be interested in serving as a mentor to more junior team members and as an educational resource to the Markets Group as a whole.

    Requirements

    The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

    Master’s level degree in Business, Economics, Policy or a related area
    Three to five years of work experience in equity and/or equity derivative trading or strategy
    Strong quantitative skills and proven ability in working with and understanding equity market data
    Demonstrated analytical skills, including substantial knowledge of financial instruments, market structure, macroeconomic theory, and monetary policy
    Ability to analyze complex market issues, make decisions quickly, and respond under pressure
    Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to extract larger themes while providing concise, articulate, and insightful analysis in both written and verbal form
    Ability to work productively on a high-performance team and as an independent analyst

    This position requires access to FOMC information, which is limited to “Protected Individuals” as defined in the U.S. federal immigration law. Protected Individuals include, but are not limited to, U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, U.S. permanent residents who are not yet eligible to apply for naturalization, and U.S. permanent residents who have applied for naturalization within six months of being eligible to do so.

    Vanguard, one of the world’s largest investment management companies and a recognized employer of choice, seeks a senior derivatives trader. As a senior derivatives trader, you’ll be responsible for executing futures, swaps, swaptions and other fixed income derivatives trades.

    Your primary duties and responsibilities:
    -Analyze derivative instruments and derivatives related investment strategies for the purpose of increasing portfolio returns and/or reducing risk.
    -Evaluate and participate in the development of models for analyzing derivatives and derivatives strategies.
    -Research derivatives markets and provide commentary on relevant issues.

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate should possess:

    -Five to seven years of investment, portfolio management or capital markets work experience. Minimum of two to three years experience with trading and/or researching fixed income derivatives.
    -Undergraduate degree in a quantitative area such as finance, economics, mathematics or computer science.
    -Advanced academic credentials including MBA and/or CFA preferred.
    -High level of familiarity with rates, agencies, corporates, municipal & structured finance markets is required.
    -Strong knowledge of key rate duration, convexity, option greeks, and fixed income derivatives theory.
    -Strong computer skills including Excel and VBA.
    -Superior interpersonal and communication skills coupled with the desire to thrive in a team oriented environment are essential.
    -The potential and willingness to undertake increased responsibilities.
