The primary focus at IBERDROLA RENEWABLES is the management of energy assets and value creation from monetization of long term positions, hedges and market opportunities. The West Real Time Trader will manage and optimize corporate generating assets in the hourly market and drive real-time energy trading and marketing in WECC, including BC and Alberta. The successful candidate must be able to develop professional relationships with power marketers and utilities. Responsibilities include:
* Negotiate transactions to financially optimize corporate assets in WECC and Canada, including renewable and thermal generation.
* Capture of market arbitrage opportunities utilizing transmission to link markets from Alberta through to California and the South West.
* Capture of real-time arbitrage opportunities and manage day-ahead and real-time transactions with the CISO.
* Provide market pricing for day ahead to real-time transactions.
* Represent Iberdrola professionally with a diverse group of customers and market participants.
* Create NERC E-tags, purchase transmission via OASIS and capture transactions accurately in Iberdrola’s energy management system.
* Facilitate training of other real time traders.
* Provide generation and transmission schedules to control areas and plant operators.
* Adhere to effective internal business and industry controls.
Requirements
* 3+ years energy trading experience.
* Solid understanding of generation & transmission operations.
* Experience with Alberta, BC, Pacific Northwest, CAISO, and Southwest trading points with proven ability to understand market conditions and to identify sales/purchase opportunities.
* PC proficiency and experience with automated tools to support trading activity.
* Understanding of financial modeling, risk assessment, commodity management, electricity and natural gas trading and hedging practices.
* Ability to independently function in fast paced deadline dependant environment.Must be performance driven, self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills;
* Ability to work rotating shifts of 12 hours which includes night shifts, weekends and holidays.
