Title: VP Sr Portfolio Mgr Location: North America-United States-New York-Melville – Compiles and analyzes credit and financial information of current and potential Commercial Banking business customers of a more complex nature. Prepares the most complex credit analyses and accurate credit proposals to enable informed decisions to be made. – Provides management and decision making support. Ensures all policies and procedures are properly applied. – Manages assigned portfolio of a larger, more complex nature. Impact on the Business – Direct responsibility for the largest customer lending in the Core Middle Market sector. – A specialist that has a through understanding of the trends, competition, communities and businesses in the markets serviced. – Provides credit management support within an assigned team. Customers / Stakeholders – Compile and analyze credit and financial information of current and potential Commercial Banking business customers of a more complex nature, using appropriate model; prepare more complex complete and accurate credit proposals to enable informed decisions to be made. – Customer facing when accompanying the Relationship Manager in order to structure complex deals. Leadership & Teamwork – Provide guidance, assistance and training in the structuring and maintence of credit and borrowing relationships, including negotiating, underwirting, pricing, credit quality, reporting of problem loans, completing in-depth reviews of financial statements and receiving all required documentation. – Monitor activity on facilities to ensure usage and conditions comply with approved requirements; ensure propreity of advances and repayments. – Work with other areas of the Company to ensure the requisite support for business activities and provide/obtain new business. – Work effectively with Business Banking and Corporate to ensure ongoing communication and referrals. Operational Effectiveness & Control – Complete specialzed duties unique to assigned commercial business, such as assisting in portfolio monitoring and review of existing facilities. – Prepare appropriate forms on existing and proposed commitments; ensure compliance with all applicable regulations; notify appropriate personnel of unique situations. Major Challenges – Polished communicator with ability to deliver cogent verbal and written information to team leads and credit. Role Context – This new role bridges the gap between existing junior credit analyst and the customer facing relationship manager. – Strong leader with proven ability to guide teams to achieve results. Management of Risk – Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues. – Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand. Observation of Internal Controls – Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. – Analytical with strong credit skills in underwriting, financial modeling, valuations, and adherence to policy. – Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, related field or equivalent experience. – Minimum of six years proven credit analysis experience or equivalent. – Sound knowledge of the business and products supported and pertinent regulations impacting their delivery, including those related to documentation requirements. – Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent mainframe systems and software packages. – Proven financial, analytical, mathematical and communication skills.
