The North America Fixed Income Trading Team is seeking a Credit Trader for its investment activities in San Francisco. The candidate will be charged with trading both cash and derivatives and report directly to the San Francisco Head of Trading. He or she will work directly with credit PMs and analysts to develop and implement investment views for specific sectors in High Yield and Investment Grade debt securities. The person will assist in growing the Fixed Income ETF platform (iShares®) through best execution and idea generation. Successful management of the sectors will involve trading one of the largest credit books in the world and influencing the investment direction of the Model Based, Index and iShares® Fixed Income platforms.
Responsibilities
Efficient execution of trading strategies for active long only, ETF, hedge fund and index trading strategies
Actively contribute to development of platform infrastructure and analytics to improve trading efficiency and operational risk reduction (e.g. electronic platforms, straight thru processing, basket trading)
Be aware of general market thinking as well as develop independent views that are anticipatory of the general market
Lead discussions and communicate market technicals and sector specific views to portfolio managers within model based fixed income and the global investment platform of BlackRock
Generate alpha and relative value ideas that are scalable and relevant each portfolio team
Culture carrier of the North American Trading team
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of fixed income trading experience
MBA or CFA preferred
Direct experience trading credit and exposure to an knowledge of a broad range of fixed income asset classes and products, equally competent in cash bonds/cds and high yield/high grade credit
Ability to structure and evaluate relative value trades across the capital structure
Track record of interfacing with the Street and selecting best execution counterparties
Must be adaptable and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment
Able to cooperate within a broad absolute return framework versus a narrow benchmark orientation
Strong intellectual capacity and analytical mindset
Highly motivated; self starter
